In April of 2015, new legislation regarding water heaters will go into effect. Is your home prepared?

The Department of Energy (DOE) has passed legislation that raises the energy efficiency standards of water heater installations across the nation on the manufacturing level. That means, starting next year, hot water heater manufacturers will no longer supply products below a certain efficiency level, including most models older than 5 to 10 years. If you have a hot water heater that is close to or past the end of its warranty, you may not be able to get a direct replacement on your device anymore.

So what’s the problem? Well, water heaters with higher energy efficiency are great for environmental conservation and cost-efficiency, but they are generally larger than water heaters built to the existing standard. This is because higher efficiency means more insulation, which typically results in a bigger device. It may also require a differently sized gas line, meaning that your water heater replacement could be a whole lot more complicated.

But if you’re reading this blog, you don’t have to let this happen to you! Get a water heater replacement before it fails and before the deadline goes into effect. That way you’ll have another 8 to 12 years of reliable, clean, and satisfactory hot water before you have to go through the water heater replacement process. If your water heater has any of the following issues:

      1. • Pilot light outages

      1. • Thermostat failure

      1. • Gas control valve failure

      1. • Rust and corrosion buildup

      1. • Leaks

      1. • Pressure release valve failure

      1. • Poor water pressure and temperature

      1. • Sediment deposit (the source of your rust colored water)

      • Older than 6 Years

Then don’t hesitate, get the replacement now!
