How to GET RID OF RATS FAST!!…snakes

Twin Home Experts has solved over 3,000 rat infestation jobs for homeowners and we have seen it all from homes that fall into the category of hoarding to the cleanest homes where you can eat off the floor.

We get asked all the time, what causes rat infestation?
Why did my house get the rat infestation?

As we have studied rats and have serviced thousands of different conditions, structures, and environments we have come to our very own conclusion about WHY certain homes will attract rats.

The first thing to understand when it comes to rat infestation is the two types of rats that are the most prominent.

    1. The Roof Rat
    2. The Norway Rat

    Causes of Roof Rat Infestation

These rats are known to stay high and come from trees and city wires infrastructure that terminates to your roof.

The roof rat will walk around your roof, and the home’s structure to perform an in-depth inspection. They will scope out ANY possible entry points into your home.

They memorize these openings and, with their meta memory, they choose which entry point they want to use to gain access to the structure of your home.

Common roof entry points that most homeowners are NOT aware of:

    ✅ Bathroom vents
    ✅ Roof openings
    ✅ Broken sewer vent pipes
    ✅ Gable roof corners

    Your Neighbor’s Living Conditions:

When it comes to a big cause of rat infestation in your home or property is a neighbor that has living conditions that have allowed rats to grow out of control.

Here is a great example of one that we had to deal with to save the neighbor’s cars, houses, and property. This is very rare but can happen.

THE BEST WAY TO GET RID OF RATS QUICKLY!! Airsoft…

The issue with these neighboring rats coming over into your space is that they find their way into your vehicles, chew wires, and make nesting places under the engine spots, costing you thousands of dollars in unexpected damages.

The other issue is these rats are attracted to your cat and dog food, so they find their way into those doggie doors, under garage seals, and any other openings leading them to comfortability.

If your neighbor’s rats are the source, we always advise you to set up WI-FI cameras on the perimeter of your home to monitor the amount of activity, verify their runways, and the active hot spots on your property.

Also, set up bait and trapping stations to see how many rats you are catching.

    TWIN TIP:

KEEP ALL FOOD SOURCES especially cat & dog food in a sealed-up container that rats cannot chew through.

    Causes of Sewer Rat Infestation:

Moving on to a more complicated issue that most pest control companies cannot solve. The city sewer rat (also called the Norway rat) can come up through the city sewer, then jump up into your home’s underground sewer pipe.

The most interesting fact is that the rats traveling through the city sewer system can sense an opening or a breach in your plumbing system hundreds of feet away

When they sense these openings, they make their way into your walls, ceilings, and attic.

The other known fact is they chew their way into your home by knawing on the internal pipe or fittings, especially plastic drains and fittings, making a hole, then right into your home’s space.

City sewer rats that finally make their way into your home are sometimes the most complex and most damaging to your home.

Most local pest control companies will not be able to help you, as they are not trained to solve these rat entry points.

Here is a great example of sewer rats that made their way from underground up into the tub area of the beautiful home:

    SEWER RATS CHEWED THROUGH PIPES!!

    Do you have bird feeders?

If you love feeding the wild birds in the area, beware because this will attract rats like no tomorrow.

Bird feeders are highly attractant for rats. Rats not only love eating the bird seed, but will camp out for life on your property for as long as they have an easy source of food.

    Case study:

A Twin Home Experts customer in North Carolina was suddenly seeing rats walking around her property during the day. The colony of rats was getting larger by the week, and she started seeing large burrows around her house.

Eventually, these rats made their way into her crawl space.

As as soon as we took the bird feeder out, we set rat traps up using the bird seed, and we were able to aggressively rid the rat problem from her property.

Are you leaving the patio doors open?

Beware! If you are one of those homeowners that leave your doors open during the day, this is an invitation for all rodents to walk in and take over, especially if you have a dog or cat food bowl lying around.

    Case study:

There are a few other environmental changes that may cause sudden rat infestation in your home such as nearby construction sites, local orchards, and fruit trees on your property, but the ones stated above are the most common and the ones you should be aware of.
